The Hathor Collection

Entry-level wines with personality.

Castilla-La-Mancha produces the most competitively-priced wines in all of Spain.

Within the DO La Mancha lies the DO Valdepeñas, a sub-region representing a superior quality standard than the greater region of La Mancha while maintaining the same price levels.

The Consejo Regulador in this DO allows us to also use international varieties so we can offer a greater diversity of wine styles compared with other regions in Spain.

Located 705 meters above sea level, the soils are poor and low in fertility, but have good moisture retaining properties. This terroir is ideal for growing high quality vines.

With more than 2,500 hours of sun per year and extreme temperatures, this continental climate translates to good-ripening grapes and to greater colour intensity, optimal structure and aromatic potency in wine production.

Our Hathor packaging portrays this wine-making tradition of Castilla La Mancha which pre-dates the arrival of the Greeks and the Phoenicians over 3,000 years ago.

The history of Bodegas Fernando Castro goes back to 1850 in Santa Cruz de Mudela, when the Castro family began its long tradition of viniculture.

Today we make a wide range of wine styles from a diverse selection of grape varieties as well as oak-aged Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva which are aged for long periods in American and French oak casks. In today’s market, these wines represent the best value for authentically oak-aged wines globally.
